Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Mulliner, Bentley's coachbuilding unit bespoke, has created a unique keycase to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Bentley brand. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a fluttering 'B' paperweight, a set keys as well as a brochure with never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.
It's a great present to greet a new owner of their luxurious car.
Aesthetics
As a design-oriented company Bentley takes its aesthetics extremely seriously. It's evident in the exact positioning of its quilting, the choice of leather sourced from by-products of cattle, the wood from sustainable forests and the innovative patterns on its levers. As you approach a vehicle like the Continental GT W12, its beautiful sculptural design is highlighted by carefully selected lighting.
The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever designed. The rear tonneau on the Continental GT, for instance included the largest piece ever made of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this bespoke design, quality and attention to detail that have established Bentley as the most sought-after automotive brand. The company continues to push the boundaries by utilizing the most advanced technology and craft, including the introduction of the digital instrument cluster as well as an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof, a handcrafted docking station for Apple iPads and electrochromic 'smart' glass that can be switched between opaque and transparent by pressing a button.
Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, one hundred years after it was founded. The marque, which is owned by Volkswagen on its own after years of dispute with BMW and Volkswagen, has planned a range of special events and launches to commemorate this historic occasion. Prior to pandemic planning taking the center stage, the company had a number of special events and launches planned to mark this historic occasion.
Design
Bentley is a renowned brand for its extravagant and luxurious automobiles, but even keys are made to stand out. The Bentayga key is made from sterling silver. It has a large 'B' logo which lets everyone know that you're driving a Bentley. The key is also engraved with the dates 1919 and 2019 to commemorate the company's centennial.
The Mulsanne was redesigned and developed by Bentley Mulliner, to be the ultimate Grand Touring car. It has two opposing pairs of rear seats inspired by luxury private aviation that provide passengers with unbeatable comfort and security. A customized heating, air conditioning, and ventilation system was designed to provide each passenger with the perfect climate control setting.
The Mulsanne comes with twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine with 560bhp, and 479lb-ft of torque. This power is paired by a new suspension system which provides Bentley's renowned smooth ride.
In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a custom-designed specification called the Centenary Specification for cars manufactured in 2019. The cabin has cross-stitching, and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered in Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a custom Bentley keycase, completing the Bentley experience.
Function
The Bentley Mulsanne Key features two buttons that open the trunk, and another that is used to start the vehicle. It also has a switch to turn on the parking break. There is a knob to fold and unfold the mirrors when parking in tight spaces. Using this feature can aid in getting in and out of your vehicle more quickly.
Each key takes two days to make. It is cut by hand to shape, sewn sealed and polished to create a high-quality finish. It is sturdy small and compact, and it fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is reminiscent of the Volkswagen Phaeton's huge car key, but it feels more heavy and premium.
Secure-A-Key is also available to help prevent keyless entry theft. This device is inserted inside the remote-control key fob, and is turned off after a few minutes of inactivity, preventing thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can unlock and start the vehicle.
Bentley's unique design reflects the company's values of fine craftsmanship engineering expertise, as well as modern technology. Over 4,000 employees are employed at its Crewe headquarters, where they are responsible for the development, design, and production of Bentley cars. These workers apply the skills that have been handed down through generations to cutting-edge automotive technology. This is British manufacturing at its best.
home-page 's Mulliner division lets customers design their own car. The customers sit at a set of images referred to as "mood stations" and pick a collection of photos - from scenic views to sporting events that are inspiring to them. Every time a choice is made, the pattern that emerges will reveal the model of the Bentley, as well as the color and style preferences for the customized Bentley.
The resulting configuration is then loaded onto individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards which are presented to the guests in a handmade key case. The keys can be fitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the pathway of the entrance door, and display the owner's name or logo as they approach the car.
Bentley estimates that it takes about 500 man-hours to build and construct the Mulsanne. The refusal to embrace modern technology is the key to this lengthy and laborious process. Instead of employing a machine for spacers to the perfectly-matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers must park their vehicles manually, rather than using sensors built-in to direct them to perpendicular and paralell spots.
Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization skills with an exclusive Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays homage to the founder William Osler Bentley. Edition, which pays tribute to the man who founded the company, William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited edition cars come with the key, which displays an item from the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
